Every business has a story. ReelDealEV started in 2020 because of a problem with my very own 2015 Tesla Model S.
The instrument cluster screen had developed bubbles and signs of leaking. When I brought it to Tesla, the proposed solution was essentially to replace the entire assembly. I couldn't accept spending that kind of money when I believed the actual problem could be fixed.
So I took matters into my own hands. I researched, disassembled, reverse-engineered the display, and eventually identified the failed component. Instead of replacing everything, I found a way to repair what was actually broken.
That experience sparked an idea: Tesla owners deserved more affordable repair options.
Building ReelDealEV
In 2020, I launched ReelDealEV to support the aftermarket Tesla community. What started with one instrument cluster repair grew into a business offering parts and solutions for common Tesla failures, including screens, MCUs, door handles, suspension components, and much more.
Over the years, I spent hundreds of hours researching products, testing components, identifying compatibility, and figuring out which parts actually worked with specific Tesla models and production years.
That information wasn't simply copied from a catalog. It was earned through countless hours of research, trial and error, and hands-on experience.
Unfortunately, building something original doesn't always mean others respect the work behind it.
Why We're Closing
One of the most frustrating parts of running ReelDealEV has been seeing other companies, including businesses like Tesstudio, use photographs taken by me and copy product information and compatibility research that I spent hundreds of hours developing.
Creating accurate product listings and compatibility information takes real work. When other businesses simply take that work and use it for their own benefit, it makes it increasingly difficult to justify the time and investment required to operate an independent business.
After a lot of consideration, I've made the difficult decision to close ReelDealEV.
This isn't how I imagined the story ending, but I'm proud of what I built and the customers I've been able to help along the way.
